ROMANTIC GESTURE OF THE WEEK: NECKLACE CAKE

by Hazed

It sounds so romantic: you want to propose to your girlfriend, so you hide the ring inside a dessert for her to find. What a lovely surprise!

Or not.

A Chinese man recently decided to give his girlfriend a gold necklace costing about $800 as a birthday present. So he baked it inside a special muffin and presented it to her.

Unfortunately, she wolfed down the whole thing in one bite - necklace and all.

"I thought it would show how much I love her and it would be a good joke too," Xiao Li said. "But before I could say anything she'd swallowed it in one bite and I had to tell her the truth on the way to hospital."

Surgeons put Wang Xue, the unfortunate girlfriend, into an x-ray machine and then decided to operate in order to remove the necklace. A probe was put down her throat and into her stomach to extract the jewellery.

"She got her necklace back eventually, but I'm not sure she will ever feel very comfortable wearing it even though I spent hours cleaning it for her," explained Xiao.

No, probably not!
