REAL LIFE NEWS: ROBBER SABOTAGES ROBBERY BY HANDING OVER GUN

by Hazed

It's only the second edition of the Fed2 Star in 2012, and already we have a story of a dumb criminal to make you smile.

An armed robber walked into a branch of the Halifax bank in Cheapside, London - that's only a few minutes walk away from where I work - and demanded that the cashier hand over £700,000.

He'd thought this through, and was disguised in a flat cap and sunglasses, but clearly coming up with that disguise had exhausted his brainpower because he then made a very silly mistake.

After making his demand he went to hand the bank employee a bag, in which to put the money - but instead he passed over his gun. Whoops!

As he realised his mistake, the robber tried to grab the weapon back again, but then the security shutters came down and foiled his attempt at robbery. He ran off and managed to escape after stealing a bank worker's bike to use as his getaway vehicle.

He is still at large, and the bank has put up a £25,000 reward. Police have released CCTV images of the man, and you can see them here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/8994548/Robber-hands-gun-to-cashier-by-mistake-during-robbery.html.
