REAL LIFE NEWS: VALENTINE’S DAY INFERNO THREATENED LONDON

by Hazed

Valentine’s Day has now been and gone, but in the run-up to the romantic occasion, the London Fire Brigade attempted to damp down the fires of passion - quite literally.

They issued a warning that Valentine’s Day could end in death by a fiery conflagration.

Their biggest concern was with romantic candles, lit to enhance the mood and then left burning when lovers retired to the bedroom. Unattended candles, of course, are a fire hazard.

In addition, they warned about cooking after you’ve been drinking and admonish all wannabe Valentine’s Day chefs to ensure they take pans off the heat, and turn off the hob or grill, if you leave the kitchen.

All sound advice, particularly if men who are usually strangers to the kitchen, and therefore unfamiliar with safety rules, decide cook for their partners. It’s probably easier just to buy something you can pop into the microwave...

This online awareness campaign starred a cartoon dog called “Flee”, who uttered such witty slogans as, “Make sure it’s just your passion igniting the room. Never leave a burning candle,” and “Embracing the romantic mood could make your evening hotter than you might expect.” Groan.
