REAL LIFE NEWS: STOLEN iPAD BUSTS DRUGGIES

by Hazed

Speaking of stolen iThings... police in Silicon Valley who were tracking down a stolen iPad ended up making a massive drug bust - mostly because the thieves were really stupid.

The police from Palo Alto were using the GPS-based “Find my iPad” feature to track down the stolen tablet. They traced the missing gadget to an apartment building, and knocked on the door asking to be let in. Despite the police having no warrant, the occupants agreed and allowed them to enter.

Very cooperative of them - but dumb, because police found 780 pounds of crystal meth scattered around the building, worth an estimated $35 million. Since the local police typically sieze about 100 pounds of meth every year, it makes this one of the biggest busts in their history.

So why did the idiots let the police in? Assistant District Attorney David Tomkins said, “They probably thought that if they didn’t, we’d suspect something. Or they thought, I’ll let them in - they probably won’t find anything.”

Wrong, wrong, wrong, and the three people involved have now been arrested.
