FED2 GLITCH LAST FRIDAY - WE NEED YOUR HELP

by Hazed

The game suffered a glitch on Friday and we need your help to find out exactly what caused it.

When the game closed down for the reset on Friday, it failed to fire up again. It stayed down for several hours, until Alan came home from work and could look at the problem.

It turned out that one of the information files which holds data about planets had got corrupted, and when the game loaded in the files, it got as far as that planet and then couldn’t cope with it, so just stopped.

Alan fixed the problem temporarily by simply taking the offending system out of the game, so the game would load in all the remaining files and start running again. He’ll put it back in a few days once he’s fixed the corrupted file.

But we need to figure out what made the file corrupt, so that’s where we need information from you. The problem planet was Augusta in the Georgia system. Whatever corrupted the file happened between Thursday morning’s reset and the Friday reset.

Did you have factories, depots or warehouses on Augusta? Did you try to buy or sell factories, depots or warehouses on the planet in that twenty-four hour period? If you did, we want to hear from you. Please send us details to feedback@ibgames.com, and don’t forget to put Fed2 in the subject line.

It’s just possible that figuring out what happened may give us a handle on the persistent crashes, too!
