CURIOSITY UPDATE: PHOBOS TAKES A BITE OUT OF THE SUN
by Hazed
Curiosity isn’t just looking around at the Martian terrain. It’s also turning its cameras to the sky, and it recently snapped a Martian eclipse, as the moon Phobos moves across the face of the sun.
Actually this is not a rare occurence - Phobos transits the sun just about every day. It’s just not very often that we have a rover in place to take a picture.
In other Curiosity-related news: we’ve been rejoicing at the over’s first trundle on Mars, but this one-minute-long film shows the possible downside. Not bad for a video based on a pun!
