THIS WEEK’S CURIOSITY NEWS
by Hazed
The Mars rover has trundled its way to a rock which was the first target of its laser. Here’s a picture of the football-sized rock, which is about halfway between Curiosity’s landing site and Glenelg, its destination, and here you can see the robotic arm manipulating the rock before it was zapped with the laser.
On Its way to the rock, Curiosity came across some unusual spheres, called blueberries. Here’s a close-up picture.
Curiosity has also found evidence that in the past, there was flowing water on the planet. It has sent back pictures of rocks made up of gravels and sand, which scientists say have been transported and eroded in water - which could mean the rover has found a network of ancient streams.
