REAL LIFE NEWS: WOMEN LIE ON FACEBOOK
by Hazed
When you check the Facebook status of your female Facebook friends, don’t believe a word of it - it’s probably a big fat lie!
A survey of 2000 women has found that at least one in four exaggerate or distort their social media reports of what they are doing at least once a month. They pretend to be out on the razzle, when really they are at home on their own, and they embellish details about exotic holidays or about their job.
When asked why they tell fibs on Twitter and Facebook, the most common reason women gave was that they were worried about their lives seeming boring. They were also jealous of the more exciting posts from other people, and wanted to impress their friends and acquaintances.
Almost one in five women lied about the status of their relationship.
So what about men - don’t they tell lies on Facebook too? Well, we don’t know, because this survey decided to just target women. And with only 2,000 people participating, it’s not very meaningful when you consider that Facebook has over a billion users.
Still, it’s the kind of fluffy survey that fills pages in newspapers. Yes, including this one!
