REAL LIFE IMITATES FED: IKEA MOOSE LASAGNE FOUND TO CONTAIN PORK
by Hazed
Here in the UK we’ve been embroiled in a food scandal over the past few months, where various processed meat products that should be made from beef have turned out to have been adulterated with the cheaper alternate, horsemeat. As someone who rarely eats cheap ready-meals I haven’t been affected myself, so I’ve been watching with some amusement the revelation that “value” ranges of food may not be all they’re cracked up to be.
But now there’s been a development which echoes a Fed DataSpace scandal. Ikea, the Swedish furniture retailer, has stopped selling its moose lasagne because some batches were found to contain pork.
It’s been a long-standing joke in Fed that Diesel’s pizzas contain moose. This started way, way back in the early days of the game on Compunet, when scurrilous rumours were spread by vicious rivals that the source of the meat in her pizzas was somewhat murky. Later, she started to do a speciality line of moose pizzas just to confound her critics, at which point the jibes changed to accuse her of using marsrat instead of the advertised topping.
In real life, I didn’t even know you could buy moose lasagne. I wonder if Ikea lasagne comes in separate parts which you have to assemble into a complete dish yourself...
