MORE STAR SYSTEMS TO GO

by Hazed

Abandoned star systems are no use to anyone. Their exchanges are not being managed so don’t offer good trading opportunities. The frequent riots make it too risky to build factories on them. They clutter up the Galactic hyperspace system. They make the system lists long and unwieldy.

So they have to go.

A system is considered abandoned if the owner hasn’t set foot (or equivalent) in Fed DataSpace for three years or more. You can spot an abandoned system because it says so on the system display, and because Spynet reports that the owner hasn’t been seen since Diesel started selling her famous ale, Diesel’s Old Peculiar.

Alan has been working his way down the list of abandoned systems and taking them out of the game. We’ve now reached the letter R and the following systems, along with their planets, are next to be removed:

  • Razor, planet Razorsharp
  • Sicilia, planets Corleone and Palermo
  • Sithein, planets Eire and Tir Na Nog – Chrysoberyl cartel
  • Slippery, planet Popcorn – Havefun cartel
  • Snake, planet Fox
  • Soed, planets Aekonia, Bal and Noom

The systems are in Sol cartel except where indicated otherwise.

If you have any factories, depots or warehouses on these planets then dispose of them quickly because when the planets are taken out, property will just vanish with no compensation.

Incidentally, there is one star system that escaped the cull: Resort. The complete list of planets to be removed was compiled several months ago, but before giving me the names on the next set to go Alan always checks them. Among other things he checks to see if the system is the capital of a cartel; if it is, then it is exempt from being removed.

When he checked the list yesterday for the R and S systems, he discovered that having been absent for over three years, the owner of Resort, Helga, had suddenly shown up again just a few days ago. Talk about a last minute reprieve!
