REAL LIFE NEWS: FIRE BIRD

A fire in a residential building in south London, England, was started – according to investigators from the London Fire Brigade – by a bird.
Matt Cullen said that when he examined the scene of the fire, at first he was baffled by the cause. It started on the roof but there were no obvious ignition sources, no electrics that could have sparked a blaze, and nobody had been up to the roof for some time.
But then they found a partially burnt birds nest. Neighbours confirmed they often saw birds flying in and out of a hole in the roof. So he concluded that a bird must have picked up a smouldering cigarette end and taken it back to its nest. It set the nest on fire and then the whole roof went up in flames.
Nobody was hurt in the fire, although nine people had to be evacuated from the building. The conflagration damaged about a fifth of the building’s roof.
More proof, if we needed it, that smoking is harmful!
