DUMB CRIMINAL OF THE WEEK: MAN WITH STOLEN GPS CALLS COPS BECAUSE HE’S LOST

There must be some clever criminals out there that commit audacious crimes and then don’t get caught. But we never get to hear about them. Instead, we read constant stories about the truly stupid criminals whose attempts at a life of crime are thwarted by their own idiocy, which are very entertaining.
Like Andrew James Joffe. He was out driving on rural roads in Florida recently in the middle of the night, and he got lost. Not only did he not know where he was, he was worried that he was being pursued by wild hogs. So he called the police for help.
Which turned out to be a problem – because he had a warrant out for his arrest on driving offences, and when the police came out to find him, they promptly arrested him.
But it gets better. Police found him in possession of an item he had just stolen when he burgled a car. That item was…. a satnav!
Why he didn’t use it to find his way home is a mystery.
