INSTALLING THE NEW FED2 WORKBENCH
by Hazed
To answer a question I was asked in the game recently: although I told you that before you install the new workbench onto your computer you should delete the old workbench, and all the files that go with it, that does not mean you need to delete your planet files.
If you have saved your planet files into the same folder as the old workbench editors, then you should make a new folder outside of the workbench folder, in which to put your planet files. Call it “workbench files” or something like that. Then move the map and message files into the new folder. That way when you delete the old workbench folder, they won’t get lost.
If you have files for more than one star system then they need to be kept in separate folders, so you may already store them outside the workbench program folder. If not, then move them out so they become sub-folders of the new “workbench files” folder.
Keeping the data files separate from the program files is a matter of good practice for all programs anyway.
