PICTURE OF THE WEEK: SPIRAL AURORA

This picture shows a spectacular spiral aurora over Iceland late last month. It was the result of a solar storm, which sent high energy particles bursting out from the sun.
The green swirls look amazing in the picture – they must have been spectacular to see in person.
