PICTURES OF THE WEEK: THE VERY FIRST SNOWFLAKE PHOTOS
by Hazed
Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley, a farmer living in Vermont was fascinated by snowflakes. He tried to sketch the patterns made by the frozen droplets, but they melted too fast. Then in 1885 he got hold of a camera – and became the first person to take pictures of snowflakes. During his lifetime he photographed 5,000 of them and he never found any two alike.
