REAL LIFE NEWS: ELON MUSK PROMISES FAST ROCKET TRAVEL BETWEEN CITIES

How would you like to travel from London to New York in just 29 minutes? That sure beats the current seven hour travel time, and even the three and a half hour trip on Concorde before it was canned. Elon Musk’s planned BFR could make this a possibility.
As well as going to the moon and Mars, Musk says the rocket could do “point to point” travel on Earth.
This is not a new idea – science fiction has frequently used the idea of rockets taking off, reaching Earth orbit, then immediately landing again in another part of the world.
If it does become possible, it could revolutionise travel. Sure, at first it will so horrendously expensive that it is only available to the wealthiest of the wealthy, but eventually prices will come down. Maybe one day we’ll have the equivalent of today’s low cost airlines, which have made it possible to fly no-frills for very low prices.
If a flight took just 29 minutes, you’d spend more time checking in and getting through security than you would in the air!
