REAL LIFE NEWS: THE CASE FOR A MISSION TO NEPTUNE
by Hazed
A month ago I pointed you to an article that suggested some of the future space missions to get exciting about: http://www.ibgames.net/fednews/2017/170924/official04.html. Now here’s an argument that a good candidate for an orbiter is Neptune.
Most of our knowledge about Neptune comes from a single flyby mission, by Voyager 2 in 1989. So it’s high time we took a further look. There’s a lot of mysteries about the planet, such as why its rings are incomplete and why it’s atmosphere is a brighter blue than expected.
One of Neptune’s moons also looks ripe for study. Triton may have a subsurface ocean, and it has ice volcanoes.
