REAL LIFE NEWS: THE WORST PASSWORDS OF 2017
by Hazed
Another year ends, another load of lists: review of the year, the best this, the worst that, the most other. One that always amuses me is the list of the worst passwords that people choose.
Not a lot has changed from previous years. The top ten lists contains some old favourites. The most popular is 123456, followed by Password, 12345678, qwerty and 12345.
Star Wars features in the list, of course – number 16 on the list being, simply, starwars.
What else is on the list? letmein, login and trustno1 are all fairly obvious.
I hope none of my readers use such ridiculously guessable passwords! My new method of choosing passwords for sites that I really need to be secure is to use the first line of a favourite song. Even people who know the bands I like would have a hard time knowing which song I picked for which site, whether I put spaces in or not, where the capitals are and at what point I stopped typing the lyric!
