DRONES OF THE WEEK: WORLD RECORD
by Hazed
A failed display of dancing droids has broken the world record for the most drones flown simultaneously.
EHang’s flight of 1,374 was commissioned for a Labour Day performance in China, and the company was paid 10.5 million yuan (£1.21m). The drones were programmed to fly in set patterns, but failed to spell out the date as planned.
The South China Morning Post said the event was an “epic fail.”
Despite this, the fact that so many drones were flying all at once meant it broke the Guinness World Record, previously held by Intel for its flight at the 2 018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games in February.
